Entertainment & Technology Panels Autumn 2015

TimeWave 2013 Demo Day/Panel on the Intersection of Media and Technology was enlightening and fun.

In concert with the Festival/Interactive Playground, TimeWave will hold two types of panels. Because we're on the cusp of radical changes, such as veering away from the 2D screen and heading toward a 3D simulated environment, experts in media and entertainment technologies may give audiences a glimpse into the near future.

The first type of panel will address the progress of technology in entertainment, such as the impact of Oculus Rift on film, gaming and other types of immersive content. Technologists can give us a sense of the hurdles they face on a day-to-day basis. What are their goals? How do they interface with content providers? What do they perceive as the future of entertainment?

The second type of panel will enable audiences to peek into the process of creative media artists as they explore and use different types of technology. What challenges do artists face when trying to tell stories across multiple platforms? What lessons have been learned as they grapple with these platforms? And how does one platform - versus another - serve a distinct purpose in the execution of a story?

Each panel will consist of three to five participants who'll address the topic at hand. A 45-minute discussion will be followed by Q & A with the audience. We also aim to engage online audiences during the panels, which will be broadcast live. Remote viewers can also pose questions via Twitter.
